There is nothing more comfortable for us —nor more dangerous— than certainties. Our best defense is philosophy, which largely consists in questioning them, daring to think, examining established truths to see what they hide. In this stroll through the history of philosophy, Savater introduces us to the big figures whose questions, and sometimes answers, have marked Western thought. Plato, Aristotle, Nietzsche, Marx, Ortega, Wittgenstein and 18 other philosophers appear in these pages, presented in Savater’s own lucid, appealing and witty style. This book is an invitation to abandon clichés and share the wonderful adventure of reflection with the great philosophers.
